Our labs, devices and accreditations

RadonTest.ca is a Canadian company. We don’t run a laboratory — we coordinate your test and send your detector to an independent laboratory for radon analysis. This page names them, says where the work happens, and lists the standards they’re held to, so you can verify any of it yourself.

You mail your detector to a Canadian address — no customs forms and no duties for you. Detectors are collected at the Canadian hub and air-shipped to the laboratory.

What these standards actually mean

C-NRPP

The Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program, run by CARST — the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists. It performance-tests measurement devices and certifies laboratories and professionals. Health Canada recommends using C-NRPP-certified professionals and devices that have passed C-NRPP performance testing. Health Canada itself does not approve or certify any device, kit, laboratory or company.

ISO/IEC 17025

The international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Accreditation means an independent body has audited the lab’s methods, equipment calibration and quality systems — not just that it says it does good work.

The Health Canada guideline

The Canadian guideline for radon is 200 Bq/m³, as an annual average in the normal occupancy area of a home. Health Canada recommends taking corrective action within one year for results at or above that level — sooner, the higher the level. There is no level considered risk-free. Every result we deliver is reported in that context.

How your result is produced

  1. We ship you a C-NRPP-listed detector, sealed, with instructions.
  2. You register it in our portal — that timestamps the start of your test.
  3. It sits on your lowest lived-in level for at least 91 days, the long-term method Health Canada recommends.
  4. You end the test in the portal and return the detector prepaid — by mail (Essential service) or tracked courier (Signature service).
  5. The laboratory logs it in, analyzes it, and issues a Certificate of Analysis on its own letterhead. We never generate, edit or interpret that certificate.
  6. We deliver it to your secure portal and email you, with Health Canada’s guideline for context.

RadonTest.ca is listed on Take Action on Radon, the national radon awareness program funded by Health Canada and led by CARST and the Canadian Cancer Society.

RadonTest.ca coordinates kit logistics, sample submission and result delivery. Analysis is performed by the independent laboratories named above. We do not interpret, modify or supplement laboratory results, and we do not provide medical advice or health assessments. Information published alongside your result is general guidance from Health Canada and other public bodies, not advice about your specific situation.
