Not a Medical Service

RadonTest.ca™ is not a medical service, health care provider, or diagnostic service. The radon test results we provide are informational only and do not constitute a medical diagnosis, health assessment, or professional opinion on indoor air quality.

Radon exposure is a recognized health concern, but interpreting individual health risk requires professional medical advice. If you have health concerns related to radon exposure, consult a qualified health care professional.

Not a Guarantee of Indoor Air Quality

A single radon test measures the average radon concentration during the testing period. Radon levels in a home can vary significantly due to:

  • Seasonal changes and weather patterns
  • Changes to home ventilation or heating systems
  • Structural modifications or renovations
  • Natural geological variation over time

Your test result is a snapshot of one testing period and does not guarantee that radon levels will remain the same in the future. Health Canada recommends testing during the heating season (October-April) for the most representative results.

Health Canada Guidelines

We reference the Health Canada guideline of 200 Bq/m³ as a benchmark when presenting your results. This guideline is set by Health Canada and may change over time. RadonTest.ca™ does not set, endorse, or evaluate the adequacy of this guideline. For the most current information, visit Health Canada’s radon page.

Mitigation

If your test result exceeds 200 Bq/m³, Health Canada recommends consulting a certified radon mitigation professional. RadonTest.ca™ does not perform radon mitigation, and we do not endorse or recommend specific mitigation companies. The Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) maintains a directory of certified professionals at c-nrpp.ca.

Real Estate Transactions

Our radon test results are provided for personal informational purposes. While you are free to share your results, RadonTest.ca™ makes no representations about the suitability of our test results for real estate transactions, legal proceedings, or insurance claims. If you require a radon test for a real estate transaction, consult a certified radon measurement professional.

Similarly, whether your test result meets the requirements of a new home warranty claim (such as through Tarion in Ontario) is determined by the warranty provider, not by RadonTest.ca.

Accuracy and Laboratory Analysis

Your detector is analyzed by Lex Scientific Inc., a C-NRPP certified laboratory in Guelph, Ontario. While alpha-track detectors are a well-established and reliable method for long-term radon measurement, no measurement method is without potential for error. Factors that may affect accuracy include improper detector placement, premature retrieval, or damage during shipping.

RadonTest.ca™ is not liable for results affected by factors outside our control, including but not limited to customer handling of the detector, shipping delays, or environmental interference.

Limitation of Liability
